Amazing Grace!

When you feel like you just can not do it, the Lord gently reminds you that you can!  We are in Vidalia LA and worked 2 days already.  The office is different than what I have done and trying to figure it out, well, that hasn't really happened yet.  The gal that is working with me, enjoys what she does and is not a "trainer" per se, so learning how to do this new system will take a bit. 

My insides have been rolling like thunder with the uncertainty of how this all works here.  Like anything you are not sure of, you get those thunder rolls in your tummy when you don't know how. The fear of failing really does grip ya, but ya know God never allows us to fail, but to learn something new.  He is all we need.

We do hear the engines roar as the barges head up or down the Mississippi and at first it was really unsettling but after a week, it's not too bad.  Sometimes these barges have a lot of cars to them.

  This is Rosalie Mansion.  Natchez, MS Rosalie (1823). This National Historic Landmark is one of the earliest fully developed "suburban villas" in Natchez. The Federal-style house is open to the public by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The large mansion overlooking the Mississippi River also served as the headquarters of the Union Army during the occupation of Natchez in the Civil War.


This use to be the gambling site, but they have built on the river.  They do have one that comes down and sometimes right in front of us.

One of our favorite places to visit in an older town are the cemeteries because they hold stories and histories that we may never know, but the headstones sometimes really tell the story. 
We happened upon the City Cemetery and found it absolutely huge!  It is 9 parcels big. 

     Ten-year-old Florence died of yellow fever. During her short life she was extremely frightened of storms and whenever one occurred she would rush to her mother to find comfort. Upon her death her mother was so struck with grief that she had Florence's casket constructed with a glass window at the child's head. The grave was dug to provide an area, the same depth of the coffin, at the child's head, but this area had steps that would allow the mother to descend to her daughter's level so she could comfort Florence during storms. To shelter the mother during storms, hinged metal trap doors were installed over the area the mother would occupy while at her child's grave.... In the mid 1950s a concrete wall was erected at the bottom of the stairway covering the glass window of Florence's coffin to prevent vandalism.
Frederick "In Memory of Frederick Adolph Crone Only Affectionate and Beloved Child of Frederick and Mary Schwartz Crone" This has to be one of the most beautifully preserved pieces of marble statuary left in the open air I have ever seen. We will most likely be here about 3 mo. then head off somewhere, anywhere.  Just not sure where yet.  Our budget is very tight, so we have to watch what we spend so we have enough to head up to our new jobs in Omaha. 

Finding monthly spots for 2 months unless Steve gets his way and we work here an extra month.  It all depends how it goes first. 

Peter is loving the river walk next to the campground.  He is doing much better with his walking as we are walking 2-3 times a day now. 



The Natchez–Vidalia Bridge are two twin cantilever bridges carrying US Routes 65, 84 and 425 across the Mississippi River between Vidalia, Louisiana and Natchez, Mississippi. It is the tallest bridge in Mississippi (although the demolished Benjamin G. Humphreys Bridge connecting Mississippi with Arkansas were taller by 5 feet, its main spans were located entirely within Arkansas).  This was when they were building it oh so many years ago.




Very grateful for the opportunity to see new places, to meet new people and to learn new cultures.  Every state has their own story, their own cultures, their own ways.  Love it.
