From the Land of In Between.

The Cost of Sanctification by Oswald Chambers Devotions

Are we prepared to be caught up into the full meaning of Paul’s prayer in this verse? Are we prepared to say, “Lord, make me, a sinner saved by grace, as holy as You can”? Jesus prayed that we might be one with Him, just as He is one with the Father (see John 17:21-23). The resounding evidence of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life is the unmistakable family likeness to Jesus Christ, and the freedom from everything which is not like Him. Are we prepared to set ourselves apart for the Holy Spirit’s work in us?

Be still and know He is God!:
There is no allowance whatever in the New Testament for the man who says he is saved by grace but who does not produce the graceful goods. Jesus Christ by His Redemption can make our actual life in keeping with our religious profession.
Studies in the Sermon on the Mount

SO, what it the land that is in between mean?  For me, it's a place that I want to be and a place He has place me already.  Something that is so deeply set in my soul, that has a fire that burns down to embers and one spark it ignites a fire within again.  It's a deep calling that calls out to deep.  It's a COME LORD JESUS COME moment when the fire is burning, yearning so badly that it is hard to allow it to fall down to the embers again and not be reignited again.

There is a book called this, it's a book about a Pastor in transition.  I read the book and it's a great book.  It talks about the Israelites and being 40 years in the desert and how they were in the land in between and how they had to eat manna and do it over and over and over again.

How sometimes we are in a place that we have yet to learn God's greatness and we need to over and over and over again.

How sometimes it just seems that it isn't going anywhere but it is.  You are, you need to dig in and let God teach you the things that you need to learn so that you become better at what you were doing that you want to be doing.

Where I am on this journey of the in between land is being obedient and knowing that settling down means to settle for something that isn't His best for His Glory.  But would settling down would be the best for my own glory or His?  We really do enjoy the mission He has placed us on, the wheels that go round and round, the view from the window that is ever changing when we feel like it's time to roll.
So, we wait for Him, we dig into the Word, the praying without ceasing, the roots of the embers and wait on Him.  When He says GO, we will GO!  When He says stay still, we will stay still without grumbling or complaining.

Sometimes, it's a welcome change when we begin to look at houses and areas and remember that with all of them comes more.  More than we want to pay not just monetary means but pay in a way that we loose freedom.  Freedom of the road, the ministry, the way of living that is something this vagabond couple strives for.  So, this land in Between isn't always comfortable, it's not always the way we want it but it is a place to go to the Lord and seek Him for all things.

Where is your land of the in between?  Have you been there?  Are you there now?  What are some things to get you out of that land of in between? Are you in between a life you once had and one that is changing dramatically?  Are you in between children leaving home slowly and transitioning into their own life?  Are you in between the job you want and the job you desire?  Are you in between the life that you want and that life you had?

That land in between is a transition time to sit and wait, know that He does have a plan but waiting on Him involves patience and endurance and testing and praying, and really digging into the Word of God.  Psalms and Proverbs is great place to read.  Psalms because David was going through the same things.  He was hiding and waiting and no so patient at times.  God has a plan, He really does.
