Decisions and love

If you ignore God's correction, you may very well find yourself in a place you don't want to be. God's correction isn't negative. It's positive. It keeps us away from things that are destructive in our lives and leads us into life. From the book Good or God.
When we focus on the day to day and the trouble that follows us, weaving in and out of our days, it becomes a struggle to focus on why He put us in some places that really require us to reach deep, deep down in our soul to see the greatness that is to come. It's hard to remember that the blessings WILL come even when it's the hardest. Running to the Lord when it's tough, creates a deeper down faith and a hope that can withstand the storms. Trusting Him in all things and knowing that no matter the hardness, He has our back. Trust in the Lord with all our heart, lean not on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will make our path straight.
Sometimes, just sometimes, when we are in the thick of something, let us look through the peephole of our soul and believe that it is going to be okay. That it is all a lesson that we are to learn and sometimes those lessons are hard to learn. Sometimes they almost break our spirit, but not quite. Just bent out of shape enough to be remolded into the Image of Christ again. Just enough to prune the weeds out, just enough to stretch us just enough to watch us grow into something more beautiful than we were.
We have been in some pretty incredible areas working in the campgrounds. Places we would not have gotten to for maybe years. Like the Grand Canyon!
Last year we worked in Beaver UT, while the learning process had its many moments of crying and frustration, the learning was on a scale pretty good. The relationships formed were tough, but they were good.
Bryce and Zion Nat'l Parks, absolutely spectacular! The colors, the magnificent edifices that emerge from the ground to the sky. How can we deny that God exists when we see this? The enormity of it! The vastness of the crevices and the depth of them?
And of course, Kodachrome Basin
We came through Nebraska to visit family and headed to Livingston TX to get our plates and our rest. Then we were off to Vidalia LA. We worked with some really incredible women of God who rocked! It was a fun place to work. One of our favorite day trips was Natchez Trace. It held so much History and so much peace.
The Natchez Trace Parkway is a 444-mile drive through exceptional scenery and 10,000 years of North American history. Used by American Indians, "Kaintucks," settlers, and future presidents, the Old Trace played an important role in American history. Today, visitors can enjoy not only a scenic drive but also hiking, biking, horseback riding, and camping.
This was one of the neatest and most well done places we had been. It's not quite Big Rig Friendly, but you can take a motorhome or travel trailer through.
We left there due to the rising waters and headed to the Gulf Coast for a Sabbatical before taking on the Omaha job. This is Dale and Margie, they have the only site like this. Nothing else compares to the work they have put in. They have been here 8 years, every. single. season!
We knew it was tough, busy, and crazy park. We thought we knew everything, yeah, RIGHT! Receiving correction isn't easy for anyone. It wrecks with your soul and your mind. It beats you up, however, when it's learned a hard way it sticks in better.
We stopped in Waco TX before returning to Nebraska and got to see the bridge that was used for the cattle drives and the Magnolia Store.
Omaha is where I lived before and where Steve and I lived for 5 years. It's not really home, but it's familiar.
The Bob Kerry Bridge connects a footbridge from Nebraska to Iowa.
The Zoo is a lot of fun and they have just finished a Safari Park in the zoo.
And of course, you can see this as you drive into Omaha.
It's a really neat Shrine.
But the whole reason we work here is to go to Neligh once a month or so. Where they still operate a drive in theater!
And a really neat old flour mill. No longer in service but a great reminder of a time well spent.
It's been fun and we have just about 2.5 mo. left of this stint. We have a few day trips planned and hope to get those done and then head out to the Amana Farms in Iowa and down to Branson for a bit.
One of our day trips will be to John Wayne's birth place in Winterset Iowa and the Covered Bridges of Madison County.
We then will stop along the way to see Elk Horn IA and the biggest working windmill!
And maybe by then we will be ready to eat this!
All these things keep us going and dreaming and wondering what it will be like to just travel next spring and summer and the sights we will see. Oh the places we'll go!
