Jesus is our Solid Rock.
Psalm 18
I love You, O’Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom will I trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
David spoke these words and he had been running from Saul.
As we were driving up through the mountains and seeing trees grow on the top of rocky hills and knolls, I thought about how The Lord is our solid rock but also how we can be so hard hearted but God can still soften it. Sometimes it takes a lot to crack through, but when it does, the reward is heaven bound.
We left Texas 27 May and headed to Colorado to go on the Royal Gorge train, the Cog railway, and to see what it was like. It was snowing by the time we got back to the railway depot. It was raining in the town below.
We spent a week there, then we headed to Omaha to visit family. We took a backroad through Kansas and Nebraska. If you think these areas are flat, well you need to go see them, they are not flat at all. They are hills and valleys as are Iowa's backroads. They are lush and green for the most part, some small railroad towns and schools as well.
We had a lovely visit there with Steve’s mom and his sisters. We had an 89th birthday party for her. She is struggling to keep hold of her memories and remembering who every one is. But she still wants to know their stories and who they are. We spent about a week there. We stayed at Ashland NE City Campground, it is a wonderful place. There is a quilt store around the corner with amazing people running it. And beautiful material. They also do long arm quilting. We also went to Mangelson's in Omaha, oh so many things, but great material for quilting and not that expensive. You can find them on FB. 84th and West Center in Omaha.
We came through Omaha and almost didn’t make it, we almost lost our lives because of the construction going on in town. We were going pretty slow, but a car snuck in ahead of us and slammed on their brakes. All I could see in my vision was we were being scraped off the road, the cat was gone/dead and we were to blame. But, Oh BUT GOD and HIS Marshmallow Angels and Steve’s clear head, he swerved into the other lane and moved a box truck into the shoulder. Relief had never felt so sweet. NOT US, but many were wrecked in different areas along the construction zone. We came so close though. We were blessed and highly favored.
So, we left that mess, headed into Mitchell SD where we simply spent the night. It is a beautiful park. Lovely family who owns it and kind.
We spent the night in Sturgis and maybe won’t be doing that again. It was rough.
We got to Billings to see my uncle and his wife. Great Visit. Kind-hearted and a blessing of a visit.
