What is Christmas?

Image
I look at what Christmas means... the celebration, the symbols, the reasons to celebrate, to give gifts, to see one another in a new light.  The Light of Jesus.  As I write this, I will be the first one to say I am not perfect in this way.  There are a few people that I thought so highly of and even put on pedestals only to watch what I thought was a great fall from grace.  In my own eyes, they did and letting go of them has been hard but I can't see them for the greatness they once had in my eyes.  I can't see them for the changes they have made within them and on the outside because it's not the person whom I believed in for years.  So I, too, struggle with this.  Let's take a peek at all things that we surround ourselves with for the holidays. The Manger scene- Joseph and Mary, and of course Jesus.  Let's look at where it is...  Back then, they put there animals in caves, not in wooden structures.  The m...

Thanksgiving 2015

Image
For the first time in many years, I have received the Spirit of Christ-mas!  It's time to celebrate the goodness and greatness of our Lord.  To see the good in what's coming of our world.  To see the greatness of the people around us.  In our own families, in our co-workers, in our neighbors.  Sometimes it's really hard to see the greatness because we only see flaws, but in every person, even those that terrorize others, somewhere deep down there is a greatness that has not been given the water that it needs.  Even in those that we can not agree with or even really like, have greatness in them.  My own celebrations at home when the kids were little, were feasts but not often with family because we lived far, far way from them and could not make it home.  So, let's get back to this season.  First we have Thanksgiving, we sort of know the story behind that, somewhat maybe.  But let's really look at it.  So we have two ...

Revelation

Image
We are getting revelation this morning. I am going to have to go over this as I write it. The Holy Spirit is speaking fast.   So here is what the Lord showed me: Pastors of churches need to help their people come expecting, not by just singing 3 or 4 songs that are planned but letting the Spirit flow, then do not plan your sermon- have an idea but be open the Word of God where He leads you, follow and read as a family, if that means going searching, listen to the pages turn and ruffle (what a great sound!).   PEOPLE! You need to go expecting to see and meet God face to face and not in a 1-3 hour service but a service that fills you until you have been so filled you have to roll out. Until the church changes, people won't. People will continue to stay hungry and find themselves filling up on sin instead of God. We have been to so many churches, most not filling us up and not even making us hunger for God. You may say, that's not a churches job, but I beg to differ. ...

November- A month to be thankful!

Image
Most of us have thought about what we are thankful for... family, food and friends.  But deep down, what are the things you are most thankful for?  How's your year been?  Did you make it through the hardships well?  Did you make it through the joyful times with greater appreciation of where and who you are and created to be?  Did you make it through the year unscathed or with little wear and tear?  Did you make it through at all?  Being Thankful and Grateful are sometimes hard to really see.  Sometimes it's like looking through a looking glass and hard to focus on the little things.  But when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.  Our year has been one of major changes.  How we have survived some of them has made us a lot stronger, some have taken us down a notch.  But it is how we look at them that the depth perception has changed. I know many have seen changes in so much of ...

Life, sometimes don't you just wonder how it will turn out?

Image
What changes we have experienced just over the past 7 years of our administration.  Life as a Christian standing up for what's right and just are being run over like a stampede.  When did the rights of others get pushed so hard, oh wait, since always.  All through history, even Biblical History, if you didn't believe one way or another you were killed off or dismissed as an underling.  As a kid growing up, we knew really no color.  Granted we lived about 2 blocks from the Indians (Native Americans)- but back then that's what they were called and they really are a proud group.  I went to school with them, not great because as a Custer, the stories that they grew up with were not of the "greatness" of Custer.  They were of a man who took away their land, forced them onto land that was not in their territory and killed so many.  But as a kid, I didn't know that.  As a kid, I knew I had better run fast or get my 'butt' kicked.  I did ...

Amazing Grace!

When you feel like you just can not do it, the Lord gently reminds you that you can!  We are in Vidalia LA and worked 2 days already.  The office is different than what I have done and trying to figure it out, well, that hasn't really happened yet.  The gal that is working with me, enjoys what she does and is not a "trainer" per se, so learning how to do this new system will take a bit.  My insides have been rolling like thunder with the uncertainty of how this all works here.  Like anything you are not sure of, you get those thunder rolls in your tummy when you don't know how. The fear of failing really does grip ya, but ya know God never allows us to fail, but to learn something new.  He is all we need. Psalm 61:1-4 NASB - 1Hear my cry, O God; Give heed to my prayer. 2From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength against the en...
